SAVIGLIANO

Savigliano è una cittadina del Piemonte situata nella pianura cuneese.

L'attività economica principale è quella agricola ( colture cerealicole e frutticole) anche se la città di Savigliano è la sede di un'importante stabilimento di veicoli ferroviari.
La produzione of railway equipment in this town of Piedmont began in 1883 with the birth of the National Society of workshops Savigliano (SNOS), a company that gained fame in Europe. The
SNOS was then purchased the station and Fiat currently owned by France's Alstom.

Roman town was called "Salvianum" hence the modern name of Savigliano.

the civic tower of Savigliano seems to have been built in the thirteenth century on the ruins of a pagan temple dedicated to the Roman goddess Ceres .


In 1612, the first drop hit the clock and bell.
Then a great fire in 1643, appears to be due to the celebrations in honor of the Dukes of Savoy, completely destroyed the civic tower of Savigliano.
The current bell weighing 17 tons was built in 1959.

The most important building in the town of Piedmont Savigliano is certainly the building Taffini D'Acceglio. The palace, built in 1620 belonged to an important family of army personnel of the House of Savoy. The building is now owned Cassa di Risparmio di Savigliano.
